BOOK #4 IN THE BEST-SELLING TAU CETI AGENDA SERIES. Humanity takes to interstellar space to face conflict and an extermination threat from both an evil artificial intelligence and a possible menace from beyond.

A century and a half after the Martian Separatist Wars and the final defeat of insane terrorist leader El Ahmi, Alexander Moore returns to the stars with the Sienna Madira, a United States Navy supercarrier spacecraft outfitted with advanced FTL and endlessly strange, extremely effective, quantum-based weapons and remote sensing technology.  And, of course, he's brought Marines, and lots of them. These are troops superbly trained for space battle, and equipped with advanced, powered armor and artificial intelligence backup.

Moore's task: hunt down remnant weaponry platforms left by the brilliant, mad artificial intelligence known as Copernicus, the being ultimately responsible for the Solar System wide civil war. Yet Moore is about to uncover something far more sinister: before his destruction, Copernicus had established multiple mecha-warrior defended bases with the intent of resuming the destruction of humanity. Worse, an AI presence even more dangerous, evil, and clever than Copernicus may have formed an alliance with something else out there with a similar goal: wipe humanity from the galaxy forever.

But those enemies will have to face a fully armed and equipped military task force led by a resolute general and his soldiers who know they are all that stand between human life, freedom, and progress—and the total annihilation of mankind.

Taylor's books and really enjoyed them all
By J. D. Aumann
I have read all of Mr. Taylor's books and really enjoyed them all, so I was excited to see this one come out. However, the slipshod way the story is told, the gaps in time and the lack of explanation around issues in the story make it hard to follow. The previous stories make little if any mention of the AI which took over the head of the Seperatists, yet now this is the main character and the story comes across as if this was something which should have been known all along.

It's very disappointing to see such a good story idea treated so poorly.

Shoulda stopped at One Good Soldier
By Josh
I loved the Tau Ceti trilogy and was very excited when I first heard that the series would be continuing. Sadly it felt like all the things I really enjoyed from the previous books were missing. I loved the solid dog fights and descriptions of ground combat in the other books but somehow this book while it did have some exciting parts, didn't really have those truly exciting fights. It feels like the technology was getting to the point where anyone could do anything now. I mean AEM suits can now do the puke and death blossom and their new QM abilities allow them to move virtually anywhere on the battlefield. Engineers figure out how to create shields that make the ships undetectable to sensor except for the fact they can still be scene with the naked eye and the same shields will bend missiles away from their ship or even turn lasers away. Why not just create AI controlled mecha, battle bots and clones to do the fighting... oh wait they do... It's like all the tactics and strategy the other books used and broke down for us just went out the window in this book. The closest we got to a tactical explanation is let's do the battle of the 300 in space and pincer the enemy using the secret goat path that equates to use just QM jumping in front and behind the enemy. That's pretty much how Alexander outlines their battle strategy. The 300 & the battle of Thermopylae on space... In the 2nd half of the book, it turns into more capital ship battles. I thought it would get better but think, Star Trek TOS type of battles with beam weapons that can just turn in space at right angles to make sure they don't miss. The mecha pilots are relegated to the background. I think more time about Diana Moore is written in sex scenes than she is piloting mecha. The characters we have come to know and love feel like they make choices that are out of character just to make sure the plot advances. Jack Bolan goes from Advanced ground recon to CAG to CAG running supply runs in his mecha to capital ship captain. Also sentences would be repeated multiple times in just a few pages. I lost count of how many times/variations of "Nancy could see why Dee liked the Seal" was used. By the time I finished this book I felt like it was all over the place, and I couldn't really decipher an intelligent reason for the main characters attacking a new enemy. We now trust Capernicus and take it on their word to attack another group because he says they are the enemy... These actions just don't fit the Alexander Moore we've followed through so many other stories and the supposed jumps in logic the characters make boggle my mind. I was seriously shocked that the book is a cliffhanger unlike all the other previous books.

Judge for yourself, especially if you already have read the first three books. While I hope the Mr. Taylor continues to write, I'm not sure if I'll be reading the next book in this series. Sadly I'm just not interested enough to see how things turn out... Though I definitely am open to reading something else he may put out in the future.

If you liked the first three books you should definitely read this fourth book in the series.
By Nobody Special
This is the fourth volume of a series I particularly enjoy. The story changes significantly with revelations that come in this new volume and this indicates that there is a good deal more to come taking the series in a new direction. Only fault I can find with this installment of the series is that the book ends in such a way that you know exactly where the next part of the story will pick up. It was still a thoroughly enjoyable read.
